Monologues. Usual monologues

Speaking exams usually consist of two different parts: a monologue and a dialogue. Sometimes a reading is included, but that rarely happens (I only remember one). So the idea is clear: two parts to prepare and two parts to pass.

Which one is probably the most important? Easy: the monologue. Why? Easy again: because it's the first thing you do (except, again, if there is a reading). So the logic is simple: doing a good monologue will help you to relax, impress the examiner and, most important, not failing at the very beginning of the exam.

So the objective is clear now: prepare monologues. Which ones? Because there are hundreds of them. But specially at the beginning, the area of the monologues tends to be quite small. I would say that, at least, one should be able to introduce his/herself to another person. This includes:

· Who you are: a description about yourself, your past (childhood, some few years ago, studies), your expectancies...

· What you do usually: your rutine, your work, your hobbies...

· People around you: friends, family, workmates, roommates...

· Where you live: your house, neighborhood, city, country...

Too many? Not at all. It is just different parts of what you would say if you had to present yourself to another person. You may have to focus on one or a couple of them, but sometimes it is possible to jump from one to another. Just keep talking (correctly), since it is all that usually matters.

____

Summary

Focus on monologues at first. Specially on what you would say to present yourself or circumstances (I just love that part of Ortega hahaha).

Any correction and/or suggestion appreciated.

I just couldn't help finding a couple mistakes in your writing, I.E:

-Consists _of_ (as far as I'm concerned), instead of _on_.

-The area of the monologues _tends_, third person, and not _tend_, since 'of the monologues' is a complement and not the core of the subject, which is, in fact, 'area', a single noun.

And those are my two (annoying) cents.

Thanks. I had seen the second, but not the first one. Too used to it.
